70 other health care disciplines. A wide range of nursing and allied health topics are covered including: Alternative/Complementary Medicine, Radiology, Hematology,
Pharmacology, Oncology, Public Health, Pediatrics, Emergency Medicine, and Consumer
Health.

How to Search ProQuest Nursing & Allied Health Source
BASIC SEARCH
When you click on Begin Searching
you are brought to the Basic Search Screen.
Basic Search allows
you to search for articles using keywords:
Enter your search terms or keywords
into the search box.
You may limit your search
by a specified date range, full-text availability, and/or to articles which
originated in scholarly journals.
Click on Search.
ADVANCED SEARCH
Advanced Search allows you to retrieve
articles by searching for terms in specified fields:
Click on the Advanced tab
in the menu at the top of the screen.
Enter a search term in
the box. Two word queries (such as hemorrhagic stroke) are searched as an
exact phrase by default.
From the drop-down menu
to the right, select the field in which you want to search for your
term. Using the default selection (citation and abstract) will often return
the best results, but you can also select document text,
author, publication title, and subject.
Connect additional terms
using the extra search boxes and the AND/OR/NOT options available in the drop-down
box to their left.
You may limit your search
by a specified date range, full-text availability, and/or to articles which
originated from scholarly journals. More search options are available from
the link near the bottom of the screen.
Click on Search.
STUDY PATHS
The Study Paths offer a choice of
preselected articles on important nursing topics. You can choose articles written for LPNs and RNs.
Click on Study Paths from the
menu at the top of the screen.
Enter your search term(s) and click
Find Term.
Or use the Topic Trees to find full-text articles recommended by specialists.
PUBLICATION SEARCH
The Publication Search option allows
you to search for specific publications or to browse an alphabetical listing
of all publications in the database.There will be a notation if full-text is
available, including the years of coverage.
Click on Publications from
the menu at the top of the screen.
Enter a Publication Name
in the box provided and click Search or click on the link to Browse
All Publications.
Click on a title to Browse
Issues, Search Within a Publication, or to get more Publication
Information.

RESULT LIST
The Result List displays those
articles retrieved by your search in the following format:
Full-text availability and format
will be indicated by the
,
,
and/or
icons underneath the citation. Click on the format of your choice to view the
article. Note: Viewing the Page Image - PDF format requires Adobe
Reader.
Articles that have only an abstract may
be available in full text from another database or from the Library's print subscriptions.
Check the Full Text Periodical
Directory on the Library's home page for availability. For help finding a
citation, consult the guide How
to find the Full Text of a Journal, Magazine, or Newspaper Article When You Have
a Citation.
The result list is preceded by a
list of Suggested Topics where more information on
your topic may be found. You may view specific publication types by using the menu buttons at the top of the list to look at articles in top medical journals, scholarly journals, magazines,
trade publications, reference/reports, and dissertations. You may also choose to display only those records which
include full-text.
Mark records for printing, saving,
emailing, or citation formatting (see below) by clicking the check box to the
left of the record. Click the My Research tab on the top of the screen
to work with those records you have selected.

Printing, Emailing, and Saving Results
- Printing
&
formats:
- In the Document View
screen click
.
- When the dialog box appears,
click OK.
format:
- Click
in the Adobe
Reader's tool bar.
- When the dialog box appears,
click OK.
- Saving
- From the Document View
>Click on File > Save As from the menu bar
- or from the Adobe
Reader screen>Click
on Save a Copy from
the Adobe menu bar.
- Then select the appropriate
drive, enter a filename, and click Save.
- Emailing
- In the Document View
screen, click
.
- Select the desired formats
and styles of the message.
- Enter an email address, and
any message desired.
- Click Send Email.
- Formatting Citations
ProQuest provides the ability to format citations according to the style guidelines
of the APA, MLA, and others. This option is available for records that you
have marked by clicking the check box to the left of the record.
- Click My Research tab
(near the top).
- Click Create your bibliography.
- Under Format, click
the radio button next to Citations only.
- Select the desired Citation
Style.
- Click Print, Email,
or Download.
