Plunkett Research Online
Plunkett Research Online provides competitive intelligence, market research, industry
marketing data, product strategy data, trends analysis, statistics, job search
data, company profiles and executive lists.
To Access Plunkett Research Online:
- On Campus: from the Ely Library Home Page (http://www.lib.wsc.ma.edu)
select Plunkett Research Online from the Quick Links menu.
- Off-Campus: go to the Off-Campus Database Menu page (http://www.lib.wsc.ma.edu/offcampdbmenu.html)
select Plunkett Research Online, you will be prompted for a username and password
(same username and password to logon to Westfield State computers or Westfield
State College email accounts)
- NOTE:Be sure to logout of Plunkett Research Online when you are quitting
the database, as we have limits on the number of users logged on at one time.
Industry and Company Research
Plunkett Research Online provides industry-specific research portals for
the most important business sectors, from energy to e-commerce and retailing to
banking.
Browsing Reports:
Browse the Industry Research Centers listed along the left-hand side of the Plunkett
homepage. Industry Centers are available for industries such as Advertising
& Branding, Airlines, Hotel & Travel, Alternative & Renewable Energy, Apparel
& Textiles, Automobile, Banking, Mortgages & Credit, Biotechnology and
more.
Within each Industry Research Center the following reports are available:
- Market Research and Trends Analysis - A market overview and analysis
of major trends that are creating changes in the industry today.
- Statistics - Extensive data on many facets of the industry.
- Company Profiles - In-depth profiles of thousands of leading companies
in the industry. Includes business descriptions, financials, growth plans
and executive contact names.
- Associations/Organizations - Industry associations, government agencies
and important industry phone numbers and web sites.
- Export Company Contacts - Company contact information can be exported
to either Microsoft Excel or text. The information that is exported includes
company name, address, phone, web site and executive names.
- Glossaries of Industry Terms - A list of important industry terms,
with definitions.
Searching Reports and Data
Searching is available within the Company Profiles and lists of Associations.
Searching is not available presently within the Market Trends and Market Statistics
reports. From the Plunkett homepage, simply choose Search All from under
the Industry Research Center choices.
Career and Occupational
Information
Plunkett Research Online also offers career and occupational information resources.
These include research, contact information, company information, and access
to Bureau of Labor Statistics publications.

- Search for Employers
Search through hand-selected major employers featured in The Almanac of
American Employers. To be included, they must be U.S.-based, 2,500+ employees
and fit certain industry/company criteria that make them appropriate for job
seekers today.
- Company Profiles
In-depth profiles of leading companies. Includes business descriptions, financials,
growth plans and executive names.
- Export Company Contacts
Our company contact information can be exported to several file types including
Microsoft Excel. Includes company name, address, phone, website and executives.
Search for Employers
To search for employers, scroll down to Job Seekers/Careers among the
Industry Research Centers. Click on Search for Employers.
Search for either Company Profiles or Company Contacts to import.
You may choose to search only Mid-Size Employers companies.
