Psychology & Behavioral Sciences Collection provides 503 full text
titles including 478 peer-reviewed journals. The database covers information
concerning topics in emotional and behavioral characteristics, psychiatry
& psychology, mental processes, anthropology, and observational and

Basic
Search:
-
Enter
your search terms, or keywords, in the dialog box Next to the EBSCOHost
logo. Click on Search.

Under
Search
Options, select a Search Mode by clicking the radio button or
box next to Boolean/Phrase, Find all my search terms, Find any
of my search terms, SmartText Searching Hint, Apply related words,
or
Also search within the full text of the articles.

Limit
your results to Full Text, or Scholarly (Peer Reviewed) Journals,
or
to a specific publication.
Limits You can use the
limiters to help narrow your search. You will get fewer results
using a limiter. Limiters work together, so checking the box for Full
Text and the box for Peer Reviewed will only return documents
that are in full text and from peer reviewed journals.

Full Text- Limits to articles that are available in full text in
this database.
-
Peer Reviewed- Limits to items from peer reviewed (academic/scholarly)
journals. Note: You will still get letters, editorials, and reviews,
which may not be considered a scholarly article for a paper.

Journal- Limits to a specific journal; only use this if you know
the journal is available in this database.
-
Published Date- Limits to articles published within a specific date
range.

Articles with Images- Limits to articles available as a PDF or Text
with Graphics.

Cover Story- Limits to articles that were featured as a cover story.
(advanced search only)

Number of Pages- You can limit to articles with equal to, less than,
or greater than a specified amount of pages.

Document Type- Limit to a specified document type, such as editorial,
letter, article, etc. (advanced search only)
Expanders You can use
expanders to increase your search results. However, you may find that you
get too many irrelevant results.

Also search for related words- Expands your search to include synonyms
and plurals of your keywords.
-
Also search within the full text of the articles- Expands the search
for your keywords from just the citation to include the citation and the
full text of the article (if available).
Other Search Methods: At
the top of the Ebscohost screen, you should see a toolbar with buttons:
-
Click on the Keyword button (default) to use "words, phrases or
even complete sentences" for your search.

Click the Subjects button to browse a list of subjects in an A-Z
index.
-
Click on the Publications button to find a periodical title in
the database.
-
Click on Indexes to search and browse lists of subjects, authors,
journals, etc.
Use the Advanced Search to add flexibility to your search or
to conduct a search using specific fields, such as article title, author,
subject, word(s) in an abstract, and journal name.

From the Basic Search screen, click on the blue "Advanced Search"
tab.

Break your topic into keywords or phrases and enter one concept per search
box.
-
To search a specific field (author, article title, journal name, etc.),
change the pull down menu from "Select a Field" to the appropriate
field name.

Click "Search."

Search
Results & Accessing Full Text
|
Results from Psychlogy and Behavioral Sciences Collection are first
displayed in a list format including: Article Title, Author,
Source (Newspaper, Journal, or Magazine name), Date, Volume #, Issue, and
page/column numbers. To the left of the list are choices to Narrrow
results by Subject. To the right, you can Limit results by
Full Text, Peer-Reviewed, or by Publication Dates.

Full Text article availability: In the list, look for

Click on the highlighted article title or one of the Full Text choices
to access the complete article.

If the article is not available in this database, click the Check Availability
link to search the Ely Library's Full
Text Periodical Directory.

Click on

the full text links to mark records for printing or downloading later.
NOTE:
PDF
full text will not print out from a Folder list.

You can narrow your search by clicking one of the subjects listed on the
left side of screen. (Not recommended)

From the RESULT LIST:
-
To retrieve articles one by one, click on the article title or on one of
the following icons
.
To retrieve a list of citations or the full text of articles
(but not PDF Full Text), click
to
Add
the citations that you want, then click on the Folder View link
under
on the right side
of the page to retrieve your list. Select one of the following icons:

This
will bring you to the Print Manager. Select the options you want
to print and click on the print button
.
- You can find out how many pages to expect before you print by clicking
on "Estimate Number of Pages"located just below the Print button. Remember
that PDF Full Text will not print from this screen.
- You can also select a Citation Format (APA, MLA, Chicago/Turabian, etc.)
to include in the printout.
- Click Print and hit enter. When your print job is complete, click
on
to return
to your search.
- NOTE: To Print PDF Full Text: Click on the
.
Link. You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader. Click on the Adobe Printer icon
toward the left of the Article window. 
This will bring you
to the Email Manager. Enter your full e-mail address (e.g. rsmith1234@wsc.ma.edu)
and a Subject you will recognize.

Under "Include when sending," chose from the following:
-
PDF as separate attachment (when available)
-
Standard Fields (Detailed citation and abstract, Brief Citation, etc.)
-
Citation Format (APA, MLA, etc.)
-
Click on Send. You will get an acknowledgement and can then click
on Continue to return to the your search. Your e-mail message will
arrive from ephost@epnet.com with the subject heading you provided.
This will bring you
to the Save Manager. Save your document to a formatted disk in the
A drive or to a USB flash/thumb drive

Under Articles, chose Additional citation details and abstract; HTML Full
Text (when available); or HTML link(s) to article(s). Note: You must be
looking at a PDF Full Text document in order to save a file in PDF format.

Click Save.
-
Choose file from your browser, then save as.

Be sure to save as a plain text file (.txt) or an HTML file (.html). Name
your file.

Click
to return to your search.
This will
bring you to the Export Manager. Save citations to a file
formatted for:

Direct Export to EndNote, ProCite, or Reference Manager
-
Generic bibliographic management software
-
Citations in BibTeX format
-
Citations in MARC21 format

Direct Export to RefWorks
