Askus: Ely Library's
E-mail Reference Service
Please read the following description of E-mail Reference
Service before submitting your question. If you've used the service before,
you can go directly to the E-mail Reference
Form. If you need immediate
assistance, try MassAnswers,
an online 24/7 Reference service maintained by the Boston Public
Library and nine regional reference centers.
What is Ely Library's Email Reference Service?
E-mail Reference is a service that enables you to ask simple factual questions
and receive answers by electronic mail. This service does not process requests
to renew books.
Who can use it?
E-mail Reference is open to Westfield State College faculty, staff, and
students with e-mail accounts. If you are not affiliated with WSC, we can
reply to your question only if it deals with some aspect of Westfield State
College or a unique resource of the Ely Library.
When to expect a response?
Answers or follow-up questions for clarification will be sent within 24
hours, Monday through Friday. Responses to questions submitted over a weekend
will be sent on Monday.
How to submit a question?
We can provide answers to brief, factual questions, such as the verification
of a bibliographic citation, the spelling or definition of a word, or the
address of a company. Be sure to describe the context of your question
and mention pertinent details.
Longer, in-depth questions cannot be handled through E-mail Reference,
but you are welcome to request assistance at the Reference Desk in Ely
Library, 1st floor.
State your question on the E-mail
Reference Form .
