Education Complete (ProQuest)
Access: Double click on Netscape at any of the networked
workstations on campus.

At the WSC Library Home Page, click on Quick Links to Databases.

Click on Education Complete (ProQuest)
-
At the ProQuest Direct page, Click on the box next to Education
Complete (ProQuest)
-
Deselect the box next to All Databases (otherwise, you will search
a fee-based newspaper database and the newspaper citations will appear
on the Results List before any citations from the Education
Complete (ProQuest) databases).

Click on Continue

Search Options [For
the initial search screen see the example below]

Basic Search:
-
Enter your search terms, or keywords, in the dialog box labeled
"Enter a Word or Phrase". Click on Search next to the
search box.

You may Limit your search by clicking on Search Wizard
which will guide you.
Basic Search Screen
Advanced Search: helps you build a
search by building the syntax for you.
Steps for using Advanced Search
1. Type a word or phrase.
2. Click a search field name on the drop-down menu. Or accept
the default Basic Fields.
3. Click an operator on the drop-down menu. Or accept the default
AND.
4. Type a second word or phrase. Repeat step 2, then repeat
steps 3 and 4 to add another term.
5. If you want to find articles published within a certain time frame,
specify a date range.
6. Click Search.

Result List: displays a list
of citations that match your search term(s).
|
Results are displayed in a list format showing Article Title, Journal Title,
[Database name], Author Name, Date of Publication.

Full Text article availability is indicated by a large page icon
next to the citation. A camera icon indcates that graphics are included.
A small page icon indicates an abstract. Click on the highlighted title
to access the complete article.

Mark Items of interest to print or download selected citations
later by clicking in the box.

How to Print Your Article:

From the Article Display screen (full text), Click on
Print Article - you will be taken to a page with the following
choices:
To Print Text Only
-
Click here. Your article will display ready
to print; ProQuest Direct removes any included pictures.

Click the Print button on the browser's tool bar, or, Click
Print on the File menu.

Click the browser's Back button twice to return to your Results
List.
To Print Text and any included graphics (photohraphs, drawings, charts,
etc)

Click here. Your article will display ready to print.

Click the Print button on the browser's tool bar, or, Click
Print on the File menu. Any included pictures will print
in their original positions in the article.

Click the browser's Back button twice to return to your Results
List.
To Email your Article
-
Click the browser's Back button
-
Click in the white area of the Email Article button at the left
side of the screen.

Enter a single email address - example: yourname@foma.wsc.mass.edu

Click the blue portion of the Email Article button to send the article.
To Save Your Article to Disk
-
Click here (this is the same as Print Text Only).
-
Click Save As on the browser's File menu.

Click the browser's Back button twice to return to your Results
List.
To Copy Part of Your Article
-
Use your mouse to drag the cursor and ‘highlight’ text that you want to
select. Click Select All on the Edit menu if you want to
copy the entire article.

On the Edit menu, click Copy. The text that you want is now
in your computer's clipboard.

Switch to another application, such as a word processor, and use that application’s
Edit menu Paste command to paste the copied article text.
Click your browser's Back button to return to the article display
screen.
