The Music Index - Harmonie Park Press             1978-                Updated Quarterly
Contains data from more than 725 international music periodicals from over 40 countries in 23 languages. Topics concerned with every aspect of the classical and popular world of music are thoroughly categorized and organized by both Subject and Geographic headings. Covers all styles and genres of music. Also includes book reviews, obituaries, new periodicals, and news and articles about music, musicians, and the music industry.

Naxos Music Library - Naxos Digital Services                                                    Updated Quarterly
Provides access to over 80,000 tracks and more than 5,500 CDs with over 2,500 composers represented. Offers the complete Naxos, Marco Polo and Da Capo catalogues as well as Jazz and World music and educational products. Naxos has valid licenses with all international public-performance societies allowing Naxos to stream in-copyright musical works. Genres covered include: Classical Music; Contemporary Jazz; Jazz / Folk / Blues Legends; Nostalgia; World / Folk Music; New Age; and Chinese Music. Educational content includes the lives and works of the greatest composers, classical explained, opera explained, instruments of the Orchestra, history of classical music, history of opera, glossary, pronunciation guide, opera synopses and opera libretti. Teaching staff will be able to plan their courses around a wide range of music. The database includes not only practically all standard repertoire, but also a wide range of rare repertoire not available from other sources. Internet Explorer 6.0 or Netscape 7.1 required. Humanities International Index - EBSCO                1975-                Updated Monthly
A comprehensive database covering journals, books and other important reference sources in the humanities. Produced  by Whitston Publishing (an imprint of EBSCO Publishing), Humanities International Index provides cover-to-cover indexing and abstracting for over 1,700 journals and contains more than 1.6 million records. It includes all data from  American Humanities Index plus bibliographic records from a multitude of international journals, books and reference works. This database provides citations and abstracts for articles, essays and reviews, as well as original creative works including poems, fiction, photographs, paintings
and illustrations.

DOAJ: Directory of Open Access Journals - Lund University Libraries, Sweden   Current File     Updated Weekly
This service covers 1642 free, full text, quality controlled scientific and scholarly journals covering all subjects and languages. Currently 413 journals are searchable at article level. More than 75,000 articles are included in the DOAJ service. Subject areas covered include: Agriculture and Food Sciences, Arts and Architecture, Biology and Life Sciences, Business and Economics, Chemistry, Earth and Environmental Sciences, General Works,  Health Sciences, History and Archaeology, Languages and Literatures, Law and Political Science,  Mathematics and Statistics, Philosophy and Religion, Physics and Astronomy, Science General,  Social Sciences, and Technology and Engineering.

A section of the "Repertoire International des Sources Musicales" searchable via the University of Virginia Libraries catalog VIRGO. Searching for keywords 'operas' and librettos produces 11,615 hits.

CAIRSS Music Research Literature - Institute for Music Research   Updated Monthly
A bibliographic database of research literature in music education, music psychology, music therapy, and music medicine. Includes citations from 1,354 journal titles. Eighteen primary journals are indexed extensively.  Telnet connection via WWW.

Canadian Music Periodical Index - National Library of Canada     1990-               Updated Monthly
A searchable index of more than 30,000 articles from 500 Canadian music journals, newsletters, and magazines from the late nineteenth century to the present. The database focusses on articles and news items on various aspects of musical activity in Canada. Indexes 4,400 journals and series plus books from 1,000 publishers covering language, literature, and folklore. ERIC - U. S. Department of Education    1966 -   Updated Monthly
Educational Resources Information Center has represented the most complete bibliography of educational materials available since 1966. The ERIC database is a guide to published and unpublished sources on thousands of educational topics, with information from RIE (Resources in Education) and CIJE (Current Index to Journals in Education).
