Description
This Instruction Classroom has 20 workstations located along the walls,
an instructor's workstation, 2 laser printers and 5 tables with 24 additional
stackable chairs for group work. The room will accommodate a maximum
class size of 36.
20 state of the art workstations with flat screen monitors and the following software installed:
- Windows XP
- Mozilla Firefox
- Microsoft Office 2007 (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access)

1 Instructor Workstation with the same software as listed above plus:
- Educational Software for ERC Presentations
2 Networked Laser Printers
1 Ceiling Mounted Projector

1 Scanner with Disability Software available on one PC

Class Scheduling Procedures
All classes must be scheduled through the Ely Library Reference Department. Please use the online Request Form whenever possible.
Scheduling Priorities
Priority will be given to requests in the following order:
- Class-related Information Instruction
- Information Instruction workshops on specific topics open to the WSC
community
- Faculty / Staff workshops conducted by librarians
- Open computer lab use
To schedule an Information Instruction session in the hands-on classroom, faculty
should contact Oliver Zeff, Information
Instruction Librarian, at 572-5640 or use the online Request Form. Faculty may also stop by the
reference desk to fill out an instruction request form. During scheduled activities,
the room will not be available for open computer use.
When the classroom is not scheduled for Instruction Sessions or meetings,
it will be available to students at WSC for Research purposes. Only applications
listed for student workstations above will be available to lab users.
General Instructions
- Absolutely no food or drink is allowed in the classroom.
- The machines may NOT be reconfigured under any circumstances. Do not add
or delete software, change settings, or change the desktop without permission
from Brian Hubbard, Oliver Zeff, or Corinne Ebbs.
- Please leave machines where they are; chairs and tables must be returned
to their original positions.
- Lab users must vacate the room promptly before any scheduled activity,
and after any scheduled activity by students and faculty if another session
is scheduled. It should be left in suitable condition for the next group
using the room.
- Whiteboards must be left clean and markers properly capped and stored.
- The Instructor's Workstation must be powered down and the cabinet locked
following each Instruction session unless another Instruction Session is
immediately scheduled.
Open Lab Use
(When room is not otherwise
scheduled)
- Absolutely no food or drink is allowed in the classroom.
- Computers will be available to any registered WSC student for database and Internet searching, and word processing when the room is not being used for other designated Instruction Sessions or meetings. See Scheduling
Priorities.
- All computers must be logged off and printing completed 15 minutes before a scheduled class. Classes for the week will be posted by each door to facilitate planning ahead.
- The machines may NOT be reconfigured under any circumstances. Do not add or delete software, settings changes, or change the desktop without permission from Brian Hubbard, Oliver Zeff, or Corinne Ebbs.
Getting Help

Equipment: If you encounter difficulty with the equipment, please
call the Reference Desk (x5234). Do NOT attempt to fix the equipment yourself.

Databases: For help with database navigation, Internet Searching,
or other issues of information retrieval, contact the Reference
Desk on the first floor of Ely Library (x5234), or sign up for an
Individual
Information Instruction Session with a librarian.

Software: Check with the Information Technology Department for help with software or hardware you may be using. Library
staff may not be able to provide extended help with the use of software programs.
