America: History and Life
ACCESS: At the Ely Library Home Page (http://www.lib.wsc.ma.edu), click on Quick Links to Databases, choose America: History and Life.

Under Search Options, choose a search mode. Boolean/Phrase allows you to combine search terms with and, or or not.
Limit your results to Linked Full Text to find documents that are available in full text..
Search by Historical Period to limit your results to certain era, i.e., 1860-1865 or 1939-1945.
You can also limit your results to a certain Language or Publication Type (newspaper, book, academic journal, etc.)
Advanced Search offers multiple text boxes to enter terms.
You may also Select a Field to search fields such as author, article title, subject, abstract and journal name.

Results from America: History and Life are displayed, and are sorted by Date.Use the drop-down tab to sort by Relevance for results that more closely match the search terms you entered.
Use the toolbar at the left to Narrow Results by Source Type. Types include academic journals, magazines, conference papers and dissertations.
Searching by Subject will help to make your search more specific. Click on one of the subject terms listed to add that subject to your search terms.
Mouse over the icon
to see a preview of each result (abstracts, subjects, citation info).
Full Text availability: from
your results list, click on or
to retrieve
the article in full text.
If full text is not available, you will see the following link: "Click Here to Check Availability in the WSC Full Text Periodical Directory." Create a list of citations (with html full text, but not PDF full text) by clicking Add to Folder for each citation.
Click Go to: Folder View to retrieve your list.
Select one of the following:
Print
button:
This will bring you to the Print Manager, where you can select the number of pages to print. Click "print," then "ok" to print your item.
Email button :
This will bring you to the Email Manager, where you will be able to email your item. Enter the full email address (e.g., bob@123.com) and a subject. Click "send." The email will arrive from ephost@epnet.com.
Save button :
This will bring you to the Save Manager, where you will be able to save your item. Click "save."
Export button :
This will bring you to the Export Manager, where you will
be able to export your item. Click "save" after your
choose your format.
